Another Week, Another UNC Lockdown
Just two weeks after the UNC campus was locked down when a PhD student murdered his advisor, the students and faculty were once again terrified this week as the university was locked down again.
The cause of the lockdown this time? Durham resident Mickel Deonte Harris is reported to have entered a bagel shop inside the student union, brandishing a gun and threatening a shop employee. Harris had an active warrant for a Sept. 5 incident in which he is alleged to have used a baseball bat and a handgun to threaten an individual near the Wegmans in Chapel Hill.
Harris’ criminal history includes a prior arrest in 2016 for communicating threats:
Gun control activists have seized on these two incidents to push for their proposals to further curtail the abilities of citizens to keep and bear arms. On the other hand, gun control skeptics continue to point to incidents like these as proof that “gun-free zones” are no guarantee that criminals will not use guns to commit crimes in these areas.

I spent the last three days up in DC for my J6 trial (I was covering the riot that day as an independent journalist). Steve Baker (of The Pragmatic Constitutionalist), a fellow independent journalist from Raleigh travelled up to DC to report on the trial. Here’s what he has shared so far as on Twitter:
