UNC Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) are back again after last week's attempt at an anti-Israel encampment at UNC ended with a flop after the UNC administration made clear they would not be allowing the demonstrators to set up any structures.
This second encampment has been going on since 9:45 AM yesterday (Friday, the 26th); the demonstrators, including students from UNC, Duke, and NC State, are making due without poles in their tents.
It's unclear how long the SJP intends for this occupation to continue, but they have events scheduled for Sunday and Tuesday.
"Sex-positive" festival held in Chatham County
In Search of a Sex-Positive South - The Assembly
I'm not even sure what to say about this, but I came across this article about an event held here in the Triangle with the explicit intent of normalizing sexual behavior which is currently "taboo" in the South:
“The ‘Magnolia Curtain’ describes a mentality below the Mason-Dixon line,” says Richmond-based author and sexologist Eric Marlowe Garrison. “If you bring up sex, the reaction is to clutch the pearls and say, ‘Lord, child, we don’t talk about these things!’ Not necessarily because of religion, but because it’s our culture. You could be a southern Christian, Jew, Muslim, or atheist behind the Magnolia Curtain.”
This is clear evidence of the explicit attempt to push North Carolina culture in the direction of degeneracy, and it's working:
“Can you imagine a sex-positive event like this happening here 10 years ago?,” marvels volunteer Chris Holt, 46, of Durham. “Or not even 10 years?”

Gietzen's charges included assaulting an officer with a dangerous weapon for joining in a mass assault by pushing and pulling officers on two police lines outside the Capitol, as well as jabbing a police officer with a flag pole.
In regards to those who were responsible for violence at the Capitol, Gietzen wrote the following in a text message prior to his arrest:
Btw they are trying to give credit to storming congress on the news to Antifa….BULLSHIT, I was there in a hallway helping to push the line of guards back. Today was 100 what happens when you piss of normal people, and the next protest is going even further.
According to the sentencing memo filed by his attorney, "Mr. Gietzen admit[ted] throughout his testimony to pushing the officers with his hands and attempting to use the flagpole to move an officer out of the way so that others could advance towards the Capitol."
Gietzen was arrested and held in jail ahead of his sentencing after he failed to show up for multiple hearings post-conviction and did not turn himself in when ordered to by the court.

NCDOT contractors have cleared 45 tons of trash from an encampment near the intersection of US-401 and US-70 after Raleigh Police cleared out dozens of homeless.
Although the Garner police attribute the shutdown of the camp to an uptick in crime, camp leader "Crazy Horse" disagrees, as quoted by WRAL (you can make whatever inferences you like):
"We're not doing nothing wrong," he said. "They say this is unsafe area. I make damn sure, excuse my language, that it is very safe."
Police have recently cleared out a homeless camp near Triangle Town Center, as well as a camp near Capital Boulevard and I-540 a year ago.
90,000 lbs of trash? How is that even possible? Including abandoned vehicles?
