Carrboro High School features radical anti-Israel display in library
Vicious Anti-Israel Display and Magazine Allowed at North Carolina Public School - The Algemeiner
An article this week by Chapel Hill resident Peter Reitzes revealed that in December, the library at Carrboro High School included an anti-Israel display created by two student groups, the "Student Socialist Alliance" and the "Zine club".
The display included messages such as “RESISTANCE IS JUSTIFIED WHEN PEOPLE ARE OCCUPIED” and “FREE PALESTINE", and encouraged students to take action by signing a petition for a ceasefire and boycotting corporations like Starbucks, Airbnb, Burger King, Coca-Cola, and Hewlett Packard. The "zine" being distributed contained a neo-Marxist analysis of Israel as a "settler colonial project" comparable to the US government's "oppression" of minorities.
In response to the outrage over this display, the Student Socialist Alliance put out a statement to "reiterate" that they were "against antisemitism" and that "resistance is justified" does not include sexual violence and rape, and comparing Hamas to the Founding Fathers:
As a side note, a North Carolina law passed in 2017 with bipartisan support and signed by Governor Cooper prevents the state and its local governments from investing in or contracting with any organization participating in the Boycott, Divest, Sanction (BDS) movement against Israel. As far as I am aware, no other country is afforded this privilege in the state.

"Stop Gain of Function" rally at UNC-Chapel Hill
Stop Gain of Function, an organization dedicated to "stop[ing] the criminal BioWeapons development and research called ‘Gain of Function’" held a rally in Chapel Hill this afternoon to raise awareness of the Gain of Function research conducted at UNC-Chapel Hill by Dr. Ralph Baric. The rally, held in the cold rain, was sparsely attended.
As previously reported on here, UNC is currently in a legal battle over public records requests related to Dr. Baric and the virology research conducted:

UNC-Chapel Hill event with Candace Owens draws overflow crowd - Carolina Journal
Candace Owens drew quite the crowd at UNC on Wednesday, filling the 650 person capacity of the venue and leaving hundreds more outside unable to enter.
By the time I arrived, the police would not allow even a single additional person to enter (including myself with a press pass), despite reports of empty seats inside.
Additionally, according to UNC Alumni Free Speech Alliance newsletter, campus learning experience (CLE) credit was initially denied for this event until the Student Free Speech Alliance lodged a complaint with the administration.
