Chapel Hill anti-muslim knife attack: hoax? | Pro-Palestine protesters block Durham highway

Police seek information about alleged assault of Muslim community member on Franklin Street - INDY
The UNC Muslim Student Association has put out a post claiming that a female Muslim UNC student had been “attacked on Franklin Street with a knife by an individual wearing an Israeli flag”.
At this point, there appears to be no evidence of the attack which has been released besides the claim from this organization. The Chapel Hill police put out a statement in response to the social media post:
“The circumstances that were described in the post must not be tolerated in our community,” said Chief Celisa Lehew. “It is important that anyone who has information reach out to us as soon as possible. We recognize the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in our community and will continue to work carefully to ensure an environment where everyone feels safe and respected.”
According to Chapelboro.com, the Chapel Hill Police report they have spoken anonymously to an individual claiming to be the victim, but no formal assault charges had been filed as of Friday morning.
Given the current political climate, and the nature of the recent local activism related to the Israeli-Palestine conflict, this smells like a bit fishy to me. I’ll withhold my judgment until more evidence comes out: perhaps this genuinely was an attack with a political, religious, or ethnic motive, or perhaps we will find out that the Israeli flag wearing attacker was in fact shouting “This is Mazel Tov country” in a Jussie Smollett style hoax.

Man dies in shooting at Raleigh shooting range - WRAL
An as-yet-unidentified man was shot and killed at Personal Defense & Handgun Safety Center on Wednesday. Given that the Raleigh Police have not announced any suspects in a homicide investigation, it seems likely that this was a negligent or accidental shooting at the firing range.
Most negligent firearm discharges can be avoided by following the three primary rules of gun safety:
Always keep your firearm pointed in a safe/appropriate direction
Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot
Treat every firearm as if it is loaded
I was hoping to get another story out for y'all this week, an interview with anti-DEI activist Kenny Xu on his Congressional run, but it's publication has been delayed by personal matters this weekend (I plan to get it out Sunday night or Monday morning)
