Viral video captures fight at Chapel Hill school
Video of a fight between students at East Chapel Hill High this week went viral on X/Twitter after a parent shared it with the Libs of TikTok account, racking up over 1.4 million views.
The video shows two black students brawling in a classroom while their white classmates watch, with some sort of rainbow poster behind them on the wall. This imagery is perhaps emblematic of an ongoing problem at East Chapel Hill High and the district it is part of, Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools (CHCCS).
Chapel Hill, the home of UNC, is a hotbed of liberal and progressive politics. The way this plays out in relation to race and the school system is exemplified in the "Racial Equity Believe Statements" of Ephesus Elementary, another school in the CHCCS district, which affirms "systemic racism" and "implicit biases" as the root cause of the fact that "race continues to be the most significant predictor for academic and discipline data across a variety of measures".
I have more on this coming soon, including East Chapel Hill High specifically as well as the superintendent of CHCCS, so if you or someone you know would be willing to come forward with any related information, please reach out.
Judiciary Committee demands DOJ answer for treatment of Steve Baker
House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan in scathing letter launches probe into DOJ's arrest of Blaze News journalist Steve Baker - The Blaze
On Tuesday, Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) of the House Judiciary Committee sent a letter to US Attorney Matthew Graves accusing the the Department of Justice of "harassment and selective treatment" in their recent charging of Raleigh journalist Steve Baker for his coverage of the Capitol Riot on January 6th, and requesting the following:
“All documents and communications referring or relating to the arrest of Mr. Steven [sic] Baker;
“All documents and communications referring or relating to the investigation, prosecution, or arrest of any journalists covering the events at the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, 2021;
“All documents and communications referring or relating to the Department's determinations to request pretrial detention of individual defendants charged in connection with the events at the Capitol on January 6, 2021; and
“All documents and communications referring or relating to defendants charged in connection with the events at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, who are now or have been in pretrial detention in connection with these events, including, but not limited to, formal complaints filed with the Department of Justice by or on behalf of January 6 defendants.”
Jordan provided a deadline of March 26 (two weeks) for Graves to respond.
Although only a handful of January 6th defendants like Steve Baker (or myself) have claimed to be journalists or members of the media, a much larger percentage of the 1300+ J6 defendants charged so far could have records responsive to requests #3 and #4.
For the backstory on Baker's arrest and prosecution earlier this month:

Wake School Board considers equity-inspired hair policy
Wake Schools could enact CROWN Act to acknowledge hairstyles and their cultural significance - ABC11
Wake School Board may use CROWN Act language in their policies to prevent hair discrimination - WUNC
Ending hair discrimination: Wake schools discuss implementing CROWN Act - WRAL
Wake schools want to protect Black students against race-based hair discrimination - N&O
The Wake County Board of Education is considering following the lead of the Durham School Board by implementing policies to protect "natural hairstyles".
According to Superintendent Robert Taylor, this is part of his priority to promote the school board's "equity policy", which he listed as a priority after joining the district earlier this year. Although Taylor's 100-day "Community Report" mentions "equity" a number of times, it does not include a definition, leaving us to assume that it is intended in the neo-Marxist sense of "Equality of Outcome" which we have seen become prevalent in our education systems.
The proposed policy would allow students to "dress and style their hair for school in a manner that expresses their individuality and culture". In addition to specific hair styles, the policy names "length" as a protected hair attribute:

Triangle Town Center homeless camp to be shut down by law enforcement?
"PSA: they're kicking all homeless out from triangle town center camp." - Reddit
According to a homeless reddit user, the residents of a homeless camp near Triangle Town Center have been informed by Raleigh Police that they will be arrested on Monday if they do not vacate.
This encampment appears to be where the homeless from the previous encampment near Capital Boulevard and I-540 ended up after it was shut down by the NC DOT in conjunction with the Raleigh Police and the Wake County Sherriff's office.
This reddit thread provides an interesting insight into the story and thought processes of a self-acknowledged homeless fentanyl addict.
