NC House Speaker Admits to Years-Long Adulterous Relationship

The House Speaker of the North Carolina General Assembly, Tim Moore, has admitted to conducting an on-and-off "casual" relationship with a married Wake County woman since 2019. This admission came out after the woman's husband, Scott Lassiter, filed a lawsuit this Sunday accusing Moore of being responsible for the "destruction of his marriage" by abusing his power as Speaker to engage in this affair with Lassiter's wife, Jamie Liles Lassiter, as well as conspiring with a "John Doe" to trespass on Lassiter's property for the purpose of espionage and intimidation.

The Characters

Scott Lassiter: an assistant principal in the Wake County School System, as well as one of the three non-partisan elected supervisors for the Wake Soil and Water Conservation District. Lassiter was previously elected to the Apex Town Council as a Republican, and is active in local GOP politics.

Jamie Liles Lassiter: a state government employee working as the Executive Director at The North Carolina Conference Of Clerks Of Superior Court.

Tim Moore: a Republican representing House District 111 (Cleveland, Rutherford) in the North Carolina General Assembly. Moore has served as House Speaker for a record setting 5 terms. Moore is currently divorced.

John Doe: an unknown individual accused in the lawsuit of trespassing on Mr. Lassiter's property to surreptitiously plant and later retrieve a motion-activated camera pointed at Mr. Lassiter's home. There is currently a $125 reward organized by The Daily Haymaker for the successful identification of this "John Doe"

Besides Moore's admission of his affair with Mrs. Lassiter, Moore disputes the "salacious" accusations in the lawsuit, such as that he used his position to threaten Mrs. Lassiter's career, engaged in "group sex" with individuals seeking his political favor, or conspired with the "John Doe". In addition, Mrs. Lassiter has disputed the allegations against her paramour by claiming that she and her husband had been "separated with a signed separation document for years", despite being still registered to vote at the same Cary address as of the latest publicly available voting records.
