Another "DEI hire" bites the dust? The neo-Marxist "Equity" philosophy appears to create a unique incentive for adherents to commit plagiarism in pursuit of educational credentials; or, in this case, perhaps invent them entirely.
Jennifer Moore, a member of the Orange County Schools Board of Education (not to be confused with the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools), has submitted her resignation after questions about the validity of her doctorate degree were raised.
According to the reporting by the News & Observer, Bellevue University, her alleged alma mater, told the outlet "they do not have a record of Moore attending the school or earning a doctorate in 2021."
Moore was supported in her 2024 campaign by Communities Supporting Orange County Schools, an organization that touts DEI at the top of it's values statement, with a clear adherence to enforcing "equal outcomes" definition of equity: "Racial disparities in disciplinary actions are unacceptable and must be addressed." Moore was also endorsed by Indy Week, an explicitly progressive local publication, in part for her "clear stance on equity".
Although Moore has resigned her current position, this resignation itself will directly affect her re-election runoff scheduled for May 14, where she will face fellow incumbent Bonnie Hauser.
Alleged domestic terrorist receives UNC award
Last week, I included a section about the antifa/BLM activist James "Jamie" Marsicano, and the petition to allow him back onto the UNC campus for graduation (he is currently banned due to pending domestic terrorism charges).
On Tuesday, I saw Carolina Journal's David Larson share on Twitter/X the announcement that Marsicano was the recipient of the 2024 Winston Crisp Leadership Award, presented by the UNC Student Bar Association for his activism, including LGBTQIA+ and anti-police causes

UNC Students for Justice in Palestine held an "urgent action" in "solidarity" with the 100+ demonstrators arrested at an anti-Israel encampment demonstration held at Columbia University in New York.
After UNC facility ordered the demonstrators to remove the tents they had set up outside the Chancellor's office, the students responded by putting the tents up onto chairs, then marching around with the tents held above their heads.
UNC SJP has previously demanded that the university "divest from all products and contracts it maintains with Israeli or Israel-supporting companies." UNC SJP also recently filed a Title VI complaint with the US Department of Education Office of Civil Rights for "anti-Palestinian discrimination".
Wake County strategic plan includes "equity" agenda
Wake County Board of Commissioners adopts its first strategic plan - ABC11
The Wake County Board of Commissioners has adopted a first ever five-year strategic plan. I generally expected it to include expanding the size and scope of government (it does), but I was especially curious to see how deep the neo-Marxist concept of "equity" had taken roots in the Commissioners' goals.
The answer? Very deep. Five of the six "focus areas" of the Strategic Plan on the county website contain references to a "Blueprint to Dismantle Systemic Racism" published by A Better Wake in 2022.
According to the Blueprint, it's a project "co-led" by the Raleigh Chamber, the Triangle Diversity, Equity, & Inclusivity Alliance, the Wake County Government, and the Raleigh-Apex NAACP.

The Blueprint contains four "focus areas": Criminal Justice, Economic Mobility, Educational Equity, and Health Equity.
Fundamentally, any effort to improve crime, poverty, educational outcomes, etc. that is based on the principle that any measurable "inequalities" are the result of systemic racism is bound to fail.
For instance, in regards to "Educational Equity", the Blueprint seeks "increased capacity within school administrators and teachers about youth development and racial equity, a reduction in disciplinary actions, and an elimination of the overrepresentation of Black and Brown students receiving disciplinary actions." But, the method to achieve this "elimination of overrepresentation" is not by reducing misbehavior, it's "strengthening the cultural competency of educators" or "addressing" the school-to-prison pipeline.
With these ineffectual methods, it seems inevitable that teachers and educators will attempt to achieve the goal of "Educational Equity" by either cooking the books, or or holding "Black and Brown" students to a different standard than White and Asian students.

On a related topic, classroom safety and the failure of the public education system to handle misbehaving students was a major focus of the panelists at a Moms for Liberty Town Hall held in Raleigh this week. For more info, I wrote about this for my first article published with Headline USA:
