Police seek information regarding DC flag-burner spotted at NC anti-police protest
Man who set fire to American flag at anti-Netanyahu protest in DC appears to be attendee at left-wing protests in the Triangle
The United States Park Police is attempting to identify a man caught on camera setting fire to an American flag in DC last Wednesday who they say is "responsible for vandalizing federal property", and he's already been tracked down by Internet sleuths as having attended a 2023 anti-police protest in Raleigh, as well as possible identification at pro-Palestine events at UNC earlier his year.
The two men identified in this bulletin were captured on video setting fire to a stolen American flag at Columbus Circle in Washington DC, where demonstrators had gathered in protest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's address to Congress.
The man on the left, wearing a red "Arrest Netanyahu" t-shirt, can be seen dousing the flag with flammable liquid while the surrounding crowd chants "Burn that s---" and "Allahu Akbar".
In addition to his unmasked face, identifying features on this suspect include his distinctive necklace, which appears to be in the shape of Israel, as well as what may be a cochlear implant behind his left ear.
Raleigh
Facial imagery search by the NOVA Campaigns Twitter/X account, which has been active in gathering tips and info around this individual, pointed in the direction of a protest held in Raleigh on January 28, 2023 in relation to the death of Darryl Williams, who suffered a fatal heart attack after he resisted arrest and was tased three times by the Raleigh Police.
Screenshots from WRAL video of the demonstration capture the same individual, wearing the same distinctive necklace, with a sign reading "Fire Killer Cops":
UNC-Chapel Hill
In addition, a potential match has been found in an image published by the Daily Tar Heel from a May 5 pro-Palestine/anti-Israel rally at UNC-Chapel Hill, where he can be seen wearing a red poncho while holding a banner for the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) Carolinas.
PSL Carolinas also appear to have organized transportation to DC for the July 24 "Arrest Netanyahu" rally with links on the organization's Linktree account for busses from Charlotte and Raleigh.
Since last week's rally, the organization has also deleted it's Instagram account.
I have also identified potential matches to this individual in images from the following rallies at UNC:
