Wake student claims school made class read ‘pornographic, incestual sexual content’ - N&O
15-year-old Lorena Benson took to the public comment section of this week's Wake County school board meeting to bring attention to the fact that she and her classmates had been assigned to read and discuss a "disturbing" short story in her Honors English class at Athens Drive High School.
"In my healthful living honors class, I am being taught about brain functions and development," said Benson "I was taught that the teenage brains, like mine, are not fully developed yet and that we must be careful about what we engage during these years."
Benson continued, "I have decided to leave Athens Drive High School because I should not have to deal with pornographic incestual sexual content taught to me in my classes."
I hesitate to include the material Benson referenced, due to the fact that it is extremely graphic, and is apparently describing sexual acts between two cousins who are at most six and eight years old, per the context of the (hopefully fictional) story.
The quote in question is from "Tomorrow Is Too Far" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, who is described on Wikipedia as a "central figure in postcolonial feminist literature".
UNC students commit vandalism spree in support of Palestine

Hundreds of pro-Palestinian protestors hold walkout, spray paint University buildings - Daily Tar Heel
On Thursday, antifa-style pro-Palestine demonstrators vandalized multiple UNC buildings, including the Naval ROTC Armory, as part of a "Walk out for the West Bank" organized by UNC Students for Justice in Palestine.
The messages spray-painted onto public property include "BURN IT ALL", "DEATH TO US", "DEATH TO UNC", and "ISRAEL BOMBS USA PAYS". The Palestine supporters also removed an American flag near the armory, and replaced it with a Palestinian flag.
UNC Police has provided images of a participant in the demonstration, whom they are seeking to identify:
The individual in these photos is a suspect of an assault which occurred today at Carolina Hall at 1:17pm. Anyone with any information on this individual, the assault, or the vandalisms on campus is asked to contact Sgt. Dodson at (919)843-1423 or matt_dodson@unc.edu.
Although the UNC SJP may claim the "unexpected autonomous actions" were "unplanned", this is certainly not the first event organized by the group which involved criminal activity. Although perhaps best known for the "Triangle Gaza Solidarity Encampment", which resulted in dozens being charged, the group returned to the campus the next week to harass university personnel and protest the UNC graduation by vandalizing university buildings.
In addition, though not necessarily organized by the same group, similar vandalism has been done to
the Memorial Belltower on the NC State campus, as well as the Chapel Hill Courthouse.

Cary man sentenced to 3 years in prison for January 6 Capitol breach, DOJ says - CBS17
James Tate Grant, of Cary, was sentenced to 36 months in prison this week after being found guilty of multiple charges, including assaulting law enforcement.
Grant and his co-defendants were among the first to breach the Capitol Police barricades and attack the officers stationed at the edge of Capitol Grounds. This assault occurred at approximately 12:53pm, while Trump was still speaking at the Ellipse.
(For the conspiratorial among you, this initial attack occurred shortly after one of the "pipe bombs" was discovered)
