Stripper Who Falsely Accused Duke Lacrosse Team Of Vicious Gang Rape Finally Admits She Lied - Daily Caller
Crystal Mangum, the stripper who falsely accused three members of the Duke lacrosse team of raping her in 2006 has admitted to having "testified falsely against them" in a jailhouse interview on "Let's Talk with Kat" (Mangum was sentenced to 14+ years in prison for murdering her boyfriend in 2011):
Reade Seligmann, Collin Finnerty, and Dave Evans; they took me into their home and they trusted...the Bible says that you shouldn't do harm to your neighbor that lives trustingly beside you.
They were my brothers and they trusted me that I wouldn't betray their trust.
I testified falsely against them by saying that they raped me when they didn't and that was wrong.
I betrayed the trust of a lot of other people who believed in me and made up a story that wasn't true because I wanted validation from people and not from God.
Although Mangum's admission may be news, the fact that her accusations against the three students were completely bogus is not; even then-Attorney General Roy Cooper declared them "innocent" victims of a "tragic rush to accuse" when dropping the charges a year later, and the Durham District Attorney Mike Nifong resigned in disgrace, was disbarred, and imprisoned for a day for hiding evidence.
I won't try to get into the details of the case and the coverage and the political narratives, as I'm sure many of the readers are more familiar than I (as an eight-year-old in 2006, I wasn't quite following the news and tracking the case as it unfolded). However, from what I can gather, the case played out in a way that is awfully reminiscent of more recent woke-inspired cancel culture/witch-hunts.
The case, which pitted three "privileged" white male Duke students against a black single-mother stripper attending NCCU, seems almost tailor made for those like the "Group of 88" who appear to have judged the case based on their a priori stereotypes and attempted to use the case to promote their neo-Marxist ideas of systemic racism and sexism.
As a journalist who relies heavily on my intuition in pursuing and investigating stories, I can only hope that I am never sucked into believing false allegations merely because they confirm my priors.
ICYMI: Durham socialist charged with burning US flag at pro-Palestine DC protest
Can internet sleuths outperform the FBI? A few days after a man helped take down and set fire to an American flag at a protest against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in DC in July, Twitter/X users were able to track him down as having also attended pro-Palestine and anti-police protests in the Triangle area:
Now, five months later, the DOJ has filed charges against 24-year-old Michael Snow Jr. of Durham, citing one of these social media posts associating Snow with the Carolinas chapter of the Party for Socialism and Liberation as pointing them in the correct direction:

‘You are a predator’: Wake County man sentenced to life in prison after gruesome Glenwood Avenue rape - CBS17
Joshua David Becker, a teacher at Holly Springs Elementary and Buckhorn Creek Elementary in the Wake County Public School System between 2012 and 2020, has been sentenced to decades in prison after pleading guilty to ambushing and violently raping a woman near Glenwood South in 2022.
As reported by CBS17, "state attorneys said Becker offered the victim $300,000 to come to court saying she’d be okay with a consolidated sentence." Instead, Becker's sentence of 20-29 years for each of multiple counts of first degree forcible rape will be served consecutively, meaning the 38-year-old will be in prison for the rest of his life.
