Raleigh imam defends Mohammed's pedophilia
Is Islam compatible with the Christian civilization of the West? This week, a video from an event held at NC State was shared widely on social media, in which an imam from a local mosque and Islamic school defended Mohammed's marriage to a six-year-old girl.
The debate, which was hosted by Ratio Christi's student organization at the university, pitted Presbyterian apologist Rev. Anthony Rogers against Sheikh Abdallh Khadra, chairman and imam of the Madinah Quran and Youth Center in Raleigh, on the topic of the Old Testament prophets and the Trinity.
In the following Q&A session, Rogers challenged Khadra on the character of Mohammed, citing the Islamic history record of him marrying a child, etc.
In response, Khadra defended Mohammed consummating his marriage with the child at the age of nine, arguing that it is a common practice historically and worldwide.
"I know we have some students from our families, from our acquaintances, the girls, grade five, and they reach maturity," said Khadra.
"In Islam, it's understood it by consensus, you can marry a child," continue Khadra, citing that any Muslim "love" to give his daughter to "the Prophet".
"There is nothing wrong with that: that's their culture, you cannot measure your culture to their culture."
Rev. Anthony Rogers:
But consider from the Christian perspective, we don't consider Muhammad to be an especially righteous individual. According to the Islamic sources, Muhammad married Aisha at six years old, and bedded her at nine. He took the wife of his adopted son. He made fun of a blind man. He did all sorts of things that we think are scurrilous. He had a woman killed who made fun of him, and she was killed while she was nursing a baby at her breasts. This is not what we consider a paragon of virtue.I just have to be honest, especially in the face of an unprovoked attack on the Christian Bible, because it records honestly what some men did sinfully.
The Bible does not set these men forth as perfect or as our savior: only Christ was perfect.
...
Sheikh Abdulla Khadra:
Now about Lady Aisha, God be blessed with her, our mother, the mother of believers. Now, Lady Aisha, God be blessed with her: yeah, she was young. Now, what's the age of marriage in the US? Every state has a different age. There are some countries outside in the world, girls can marry are 12 years old. Okay, what's the issue with this, if in Africa, girls reach maturity much, much younger.
Even here in the US, I know we have some students from our families, from our acquaintances, the girls, grade five, and they reach maturity, they reach puberty.
Very briefly, the worst enemies of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, in his own time, did not object on this and did not say to him, "oh, look, he's marrying a young lady."
And in Islam, it's understood it by consensus, you can marry a child, but you can never have the relationship with her until he's psychologically, physically able. If a father is loving and wanting to marry and give his daughter in marriage to someone who is righteous, well, if the Prophet is here, everyone would love to do that and give his daughter to the Prophet, peace be upon him.
So there is nothing wrong with that. That's their culture, you cannot measure your culture to their culture.
In the US, go to the history, you will find the age of marriage sometimes was nine years old and everyone can search now on the internet. It can be nine years old, eight years old.
It doesn't matter if in that community, it's okay, and there is no physical harm, there's no harm, psychological harm, and there's no problem, and it is by consent of all parties. What's the issue with that?
Khadra has also been involved in local activism in support of Palestine, including a press conference in which the leftist-Muslim alliance called on Democrats not to vote for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the 2020 presidential election:

Michael Snow, Jr. has been sentenced to four months probation, 40 hours of community service, and $525 in restitution after pleading guilty to burning a stolen American flag at protest-turned-riot over Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's address to Congress.
Snow was identified by law enforcement after internet sleuths (including yours truly) found material tying him to left-wing protests in Raleigh and Chapel Hill, as well as the Carolinas chapter of the Party for Socialism and Liberation, which was involved in the DC event:
Pedophile dreamer to be deported after pleading guilty to lying on DACA form
Mexican national and convicted child molester sentenced for immigration fraud - ICE
Marcelo Soto-Luna, a Mexican national who entered the US as a child, will be deported after pleading guilty to immigration fraud in relation to his 2023 conviction for sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl in Wake County.
According to the feds, Soto-Luna falsely answered "no" under penalty of perjury in 2020 to the following question on an "an application for immigration benefit as a Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals": "Have you EVER engaged in, ordered, incited, assisted, or otherwise participated in any of the following: any kind of sexual contact or relations with any person who was being forced or threatened?"
Two years later, Soto-Luna was arrested and charged in Wake Superior Court by Knightdale Police with sexually abusing a child in 2019, prior to his false statement on the form. (Soto-Luna is listed as residing in Nashville, NC at the time).
Soto-Luna was sentenced to 15-27 months in state court after pleading guilty to three counts of indecent liberties with a child, and 7 months in federal court for the immigration fraud. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says Soto-Luna will be removed from the country upon completion of his sentences.
Soto-Luna was investigated and prosecuted federally as part of Operation False Haven, an "ongoing national initiative designed to identify and prosecute child molesters and other egregious felons who fraudulently obtained immigration benefits."
Court records show Soto-Luna had also been previously caught driving with no license and driving with no valid registration or insurance in Durham and Onslow counties respectively, as is often the case with illegal immigrants.
Duke asked to stop partnership with Chinese Communist Party university
U.S. Lawmakers Urge Duke to End Partnership With Wuhan University - The Assembly
Two Republican congressmen, the chairs of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party and House Education and Workforce Committee, have written a letter to Duke University with concerns about it's partnership with Wuhan University, which they describe as a "national security risk," characterizing the university as a "direct extension of the Chinese military and intelligence apparatus."
The letter points to the Chinese university's direct ties to its country's "military-industrial complex," including supervision by "China’s national defense technology agency," the operation of "multiple national defense research laboratories," training of "cyber warfare specialists" for the Chinese military, and involvement in China's satellite system.
The letter also points to Pentagon funded researchers at Duke who transferred defense-related technology to China, as well as a report by a Duke student regarding an inadvertent propaganda trip to Duke Kunshan University, a Chinese campus of Duke University which is part the partnership.
(When the terms "Wuhan" and "North Carolina university" come up, I can't help but be reminded of certain other research which may have had much more dire consequences for the country than stolen defense technology).
Three charged in Mother's Day brunch beatdown-turned-shooting
2 charged after Mother's Day brunch brawl at Big Ed's leads to 3 being injured when shots fired - ABC11
Woman makes appearance in court; Big Ed's reopens after Mother's day brawl, shooting in Raleigh - ABC11
An inter-family assault at Big Ed’s Country Cooking in North Raleigh with thrown punches and chairs nearly turned deadly after one of the attackers drew a firearm, sending at least three to the hospital including one employee with a graze wound. (It's not clear from the information provided whether the other two injuries were inflicted by firearm.)
Video from a bystander captured part of the incident, showing restaurant-goers fleeing the establishment as three gunshots ring out, while at least one man (the alleged shooter) continues to throw punches:
Although it has been characterized as a "brawl," it appears that only one of the families involved is facing charges: two of the three arrestees appear to be a mother-son duo while the third is listed as living at the same Wake Forest residence as the pair in the arrest database; three of the six individuals listed as victims, on the other hand, appear to be related to each other as well with the same last name.
Alexander Ray Barnes, 23, is being held without bond on the most serious charges, including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Police say he shot at and punched one female victim in the face, shot at another female victim, punched a third female in the mouth, and punched a fourth in the face.
Adrienne Thorpe Barnes, 48, was charged with assaulting two of the same victims as Alexander Barnes (punching one in the head, and pulling the hair and punching the head of the other), as well as accessory after the fact for driving him away from the scene of the crime.
Jermaine Otario Mitchell, 51, was charged with a single count of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury for assaulting a man with a chair.

Police: Inadvertently released murderer immediately commits another shooting
NC man convicted in 2013 double homicide mistakenly released from prison, charged in Garner shooting - ABC11
Convicted killer mistakenly freed from NC prison charged in recent Wake shooting - N&O
Jonathan Alejandro Santillan has spent nearly half his life in prison since murdering a couple in Garner in 2013 at the age of fifteen, yet he appears to have experienced zero rehabilitation.
Earlier this year, after a length appeals process, Santillan was resentenced due to his young age at the time of his offense, with the Wake County judge adjusting his sentence for the two murders from life without parole to life with the possibility of parole.
However, due to a miscommunication involving an additional lesser sentence for other crimes he committed prior the murder, Santillan was mistakenly released in March by the NC Department of Adult Correction.
According to police, Santillan used his newfound freedom to commit a crime extremely similar to his prior murders: shooting up another home in Garner which left one woman seriously injured.
Santillan is now back in prison with additional charges including for the attempted killing, as well as for striking and attempting to bite police officers.
Protest Watch
NC March for Life
Pro-life protesters gathered in Raleigh for the 27th annual Rally and March for Life. The event appears to have attracted less attendance than in previous years, with approximately 200 participants in the march, according to video posted by NC Right to Life.
North Carolina law currently protects the killing of unborn children up until 12 weeks in all cases, as well as up to 20 weeks for children conceived in rape or incest, and 24 weeks if the child possesses a "life-limiting" condition.
Since the 12-week abortion "ban" was passed in 2023, there have still been at least 3-4k abortions per month in clinics across the state, approximately 50x the reported homicide rate, as well as an unknown number of "self-managed" or medicated abortions which are estimated to be at least 1.7x the number of clinic abortions.
Although several Republican legislatures have proposed bills to fully ban abortion, including this year with H804, there is not serious interest in passing such a law from the broader GOP legislative majority.
The march was counterprotested by a group of self-described "pro-abortion" activists with Triangle Abortion Access.
